Profession: After teaching elementary school for 16 years, I resigned and now keep the books for my husband’s home improvement business.
How long have you been on this weight loss journey? I have been on this journey since August 8, 2016.
Weight Loss/Inches: I’ve lost 20 pounds and 4 inches in my waist.
What was your “low point”? My low point was realizing I weighed more than I ever had in my life including pregnancies. I was on blood pressure medicine, anxiety medicine and felt tired all the time. I wasn’t sleeping well and just not happy with myself. I knew I had to change something in my life.
How did you get started? My husband has been attending Men’s Bootcamp since August of 2015 and has had great success. He suggested I give LiveFit a try. So, I did. I signed up the week before the Rock Your Jeans challenge 2016. I was so nervous before my first class but gave it my all. I was hooked then and started attending at least three classes per week.
What is your workout routine and eating plan? Now I attend 4 to 5 classes a week and count calories through MyFitness Pal. I try to eat clean most meals and make sure I take in enough protein each day.
What are your top 3 favorite resources that helped you along the way?
1.) My family and friends! They all lifted me up with phone calls, texts and encouraging words.
2.) The LiveFit community! I was welcomed with words of advance and helpful tips to get me through that first outdoor (August) bootcamp with Adina. I am still greeted at every class with encouraging words and helpful tips. LiveFit is a very positive and inspirational place.
3.) Keeping a workout routine. I started with 3 classes a week and power walking the days I didn’t have class. I’ve keep that routine and still workout 5 days a week.
What one piece of advice would you give to someone who is sitting on the sidelines and waiting? Start today! You’ll be amazed how quick your body will change and how much better you will feel.
What one piece of advice would you give to someone who is in the process but is feeling discouraged? Don’t give up! It’s okay to have a bad workout day or bad eating day. Just start again the next day. Talk to someone in your class or any of the LiveFit instructors. Everyone I have met has been extremely friendly and helpful.
Anything else you would like to share? I am in the best shape of my life and feel better than I ever have. Since I started this journey, I no longer take medication for high blood pressure or anxiety. My sleep has improved from 3 to 4 hours (on a good night) to 7 or 8 hours a night. I have energy that lasts all day. The most important thing to me is that I feel good in my own skin. I have gained so much self-confidence!
