{THE BASICS}

Age: 42

Profession: Accountant for FedEx for 21 years. I have been married for 16 years and I have two sons, ages 10 and 12.

How long have you been on this weight loss journey? I first started battling my weight during college. Lots of fast food on the go caught up with me fast. I joined weight watchers in 1995 and became a lifetime member. However, I was still not active and did not make a lifestyle change and the pounds quickly returned. Over the years I have tried many different diets and have watched my weight go up and down. Finally at the age of 40, 2 years ago, I decided it was time to make a lifestyle change and do it the right way.

Weight Loss/Inches: I started with Livefit in March 2012 and I have lost 30 pounds and 24 inches. I am down 4 pants sizes! Just 10 more pounds to go!

{MY STORY}

What was your “low point”? I am not sure that there was one defining moment. I hated shopping for clothes because I struggled to find anything that fit properly. I also struggled with anxiety and I knew that a big key to feeling better was going to be with exercise and a healthier diet.

How did you get started? I would not have started if it had not been for a very good friend that got me going to the gym. We started there and then started running. We did our first 5k together in October 2011. From there I was hooked. But I knew in order to keep running I had to get the weight off and keep it off. A few months later, thanks to some great neighbors, I found LiveFit. During the first challenge, I lost 12 pounds and 12 inches. I had finally found the way to do it right!

What is your workout routine and eating plan? I currently attend 3 bootcamp classes per week and run 3 days per week. Throughout the year, I run in various 5K’s and other running events. I am currently training for my third half marathon. I try to keep my calorie intake at 1200 calories per day. I have come to like many different healthier foods that I include in my daily choices. But I never deny myself a treat. However, I am very aware of how many miles it takes to burn off that yummy treat which does motivate me not to over-indulge.

What are your top 3 favorite resources that helped you along the way?

1) My friends: I know that without my friends/neighbors I would not have made it this far. We have made this journey together. They are my accountability partners. We work-out and run together. I am so thankful for each of them, they know who they are and I appreciate them very much.

2) The LiveFit coaches truly inspire me. They are working women and mothers just like me. They teach me new things and motivate me every day. They make each bootcamp class fun and challenging.

3) My Fitness Pal. Once I started logging my food intake and really became aware of what and how much I was consuming each day. It really motivated me to stay on track.

What one piece of advice would you give to someone who is sitting on the sidelines and waiting? Every time I tell someone that they should join LiveFit or start running, their first response is “I can’t do that”. Well you can do it! Just get up off that couch and get moving. You will become stronger and healthier every day. You are much stronger than you think!

What one piece of advice would you give to someone who is in the process but is feeling discouraged? Don’t give up! With perseverance you will see results. Change up your routine if you are bored. Try a TRX class or the running group if you need a change. Also, I have finally learned that when losing the weight slowly, you are more likely to keep it off!

If you are a parent, how have you balanced everything? So thankful that LiveFit offers the 5:15 AM classes. This allows me to complete my work-out before my kids even wake up. I know that by taking this time for myself it is making me a happier and healthier wife and mom which brings everything else together.

Anything else you would like to share? One of the best feelings in the world is when someone takes notice of the changes in your body. When they ask me how I did it, I always tell them about “bootcamp”. It is absolutely the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have so much more confidence now and for the first time in years I love shopping for new clothes. In 2012 I ran my very first half marathon and now I am training for my third. I can look back and remember when I could not even run for 1 minute without losing my breath. I am so thankful that I found LiveFit.
