{Your Story}

What was your low point:  Kraft required employees to undergo Biometric screening annually and when I reviewed my 2016 results, I had a 3rd year of results trending in the wrong direction.  I was tired and sluggish all the time and wasn’t sleeping well.  A fried on mine encouraged me to make an appointment with her doctor. When I met with the doctor he sternly told me that the root of my problems was my weight and that I needed to address my weight with an exercise program.  He recommended walking and yoga.  I recall at that office visit that I weighed in at 205.7lbs.

How did you get started:  I started with beginner yoga classes in the fall of 2015 but was not seeing the results that I wanted.  A friend of mine encouraged me to come to LiveFit with her.  My first class was Barre at the end of January 2016.

What is your workout routine and eating plan:  I could only take one class per week when I first started because I was so out-of-shape and sore from the workout.  I slowly gained stamina and was able to add more classes per week.  I now attend classes at LiveFit 2 times per day, 5-6 days per week!  I learned quickly that I also needed to make changes in my diet.  This has been a long learning curve, one that I’m still on.  The biggest change that I have made is learning how to fuel my body properly through a tool called, meal prep.  This requires you to prepare a week’s worth of meals all at once to ensure that you get the appropriate amount of protein, fat and carbs at each meal and daily.  In addtion, I log everything that I eat and drink into a daily food diary.  LiveFit has been instrumental through this process.

Top 3 Resources that helped along the way:

1. Rock Your Jeans Competition & Information – Inbody Assessments & measurements [great to see progress], Meal Plans, Grocery lists, teams with 1:1 access to LiveFit coach, weekly emails througout the competition with information, guidance and encouragement, team competition, etc!

2. Adina and all the LiveFit Instructors – the staff is great…so supportive, approachable, invested, committed – can’t say enough about how positive LiveFit is!

3. My Fitness Pal

What one piece of advice would you give to someone who is sitting on the sidelines and waiting?  Don’t fall into the trap of feeling intimidated and comparing yourself to others.  I know how you feel.  Get rid of self doubt.  This is your personal journey.  Challenge yourself to come to class, to learn something new and meet someone new, challenge yourself to learn how to meal prep, challenge yourself to be a better, stronger you.  Challenge yourself!

What one piece of advice would you give to someone who is in the process but is feeling discouraged? Adina and her staff do a great job at keeping it real.  They understand the struggles we all face each and everyday and provide witness to it.  Whenever I’ve felt discouraged, I’ve talked it out with Adina, a LiveFit coach or a friend that I’ve made at class.  Reach out to the wonderful support group that is present at LiveFit.  Chances are you will find that they have met a similar challenge on their journey and can offer guidance from their experiences as well as the much needed encouragement that we need from time to time!
